01.Acceptance and eligibility

By accessing or using InsuranceDico (the “Site”) you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please stop using the Site. The Site is intended for users aged 18 or over. We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force is the one published here on the date you use the Site.

02.Definitions

  • “We”, “us”, “our”, “InsuranceDico”, InsuranceDico, the editorial publisher operating this Site.
  • “Site”, insurancedico.co.uk and any sub-domain we publish.
  • “Content”, all text, images, data, code and design published on the Site.
  • “Guide”, an editorial article published on the Site.
  • “Affiliate link”, an outbound link that may pay us a commission if a purchase is made; marked rel="sponsored".

03.Editorial-only service

InsuranceDico is an independent editorial publisher. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and we are not an insurance broker, intermediary or appointed representative. Nothing on the Site is regulated financial advice, a personal recommendation, or an inducement to buy a particular insurance product.

We do not arrange, quote, sell, place or administer insurance and we do not hold client money. Before acting on any information you read on the Site, you should consider taking independent advice from an FCA-authorised insurance broker or a qualified financial adviser, and you must read the insurer’s policy wording in full.

04.Accuracy and currency

We take reasonable care to ensure information is accurate at the date of publication or last review. Insurance products, premiums, regulatory thresholds and ombudsman award limits change frequently; we do not warrant that information remains current and accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of out-of-date information. Every guide carries the date it was last reviewed.

05.Permitted use and prohibited conduct

You may view, download and print pages from the Site for your own personal or internal business reference. You must not:

  • republish, sell, licence or sub-licence any part of the Site for commercial gain;
  • scrape, harvest or systematically extract Content using automated means;
  • train or fine-tune machine-learning models on our Content without our prior written consent (this opt-out applies under Article 4(3) of EU Directive 2019/790 and equivalent UK provisions);
  • misrepresent our Content, remove credits, or alter dates of publication;
  • use the Site in any way that breaches applicable law or interferes with other users.

06.Intellectual property

All text, layout, design, graphics and code on the Site are owned by InsuranceDico or its licensors and are protected by UK and international copyright, database-right and trade-mark law. The InsuranceDico name and logo are trade marks and may not be used without permission.

07.User submissions

When you submit a message, comment or correction through the Site you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use that submission for editorial purposes (including publishing corrections). You warrant that the submission is yours to share and does not infringe any third-party right.

09.Disclaimer of warranties

The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

10.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, InsuranceDico, its contributors and its officers shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential or economic loss, loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data or loss of goodwill arising out of or in connection with your use of the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable UK statute; or the mandatory consumer-protection rights of EEA residents and California residents under their local laws.

11.Indemnity

You agree to indemnify InsuranceDico against any claim arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Site, including reasonable legal costs.

12.Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in force. These terms, together with our Privacy & Cookies Policy and Editorial Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and InsuranceDico in relation to your use of the Site.

13.Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them are governed by the law of England and Wales. You and we agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, save that (a) we may bring proceedings to protect our intellectual property in any court of competent jurisdiction, and (b) where you act as a consumer, you retain the benefit of any mandatory protections of the courts and law of your country of habitual residence.

14.Notice for EU consumers

Consumers resident in the European Union retain the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of their country of habitual residence (Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, “Rome I”) and may bring or be sued in the courts of that country (Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012, “Brussels Ia”). The European Commission also provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr; we do not currently sell goods or services to EU consumers via the Site, so the platform is unlikely to apply, but the link is provided for completeness.

15.Notice for California consumers

California residents have additional rights in relation to personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. Those rights are set out in section 11 of our Privacy & Cookies Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable right you have under California law.

16.Changes

We may revise these terms at any time. The date of the current version appears in the header above and in the Version history below. Continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
